Cairo- April 18, 2018
Schneider Electric Egypt & North East Africa has signed a deal renewing its cooperation with the Engineering Consultants Group (ECG) to sponsor an occupational training program for Egyptian engineering students.
Launched in 2010, the University to Work (UTW) initiative is aimed at providing high-quality vocational education and skills development to graduate and undergraduate engineering students to prepare them for the job market. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic education and market needs in the engineering industry.
The deal is part of continued cooperation between Schneider Electric and ECG in recent years.
This year’s version of UTW will offer students the latest information and hands-on training on energy management technologies. Schneider will also be offering job opportunities to the program’s top-ranked graduates.
"We believe that human resources are the most valuable asset Egypt possesses and through this initiative we aim to offer high-level training to help groom a new generation of well-qualified engineers who can take up the challenges of the increasingly competitive job market" said Walid Sheta, Schneider Electric's Regional Cluster Head of North East Africa and Levant.
Schneider’s cooperation with ECG is part of a series of agreements the company has entered into with Egyptian institutions with the aim of providing high-caliber vocational training to deliver a skilled, work-ready workforce who have an up-to-date knowledge of future technologies, said Tamer Essam, Schneider's Vice President of Human Resources of North East Africa and Levant.
Since the program’s launch, Schneider has jointly offered training to more than 2,000 students.
The signing ceremony was attended by Schneider executives, ECG's chairman Amr Alouba as well as a number of university professors.
