Schneider Electric Egypt Provides Advanced Solar Energy Solutions to AUC's Research Institute for Sustainable Energy
The gift in-kind includes 50 Mobiya Solar Lights and One Water of the Sun Installation to help develop local communities in Wadi El Gamal, Abu Ghusun and the New Valley
Cairo, Egypt: 20 June 2016 - Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, announced that it has signed an gift in-kind agreement with the American University in Cairo. Schneider Electric will provide AUC’s Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), a renewable energy research center affiliated to the university, with One Water of the Sun Installation to extract groundwater for irrigation use, in addition to 50 Mobiya Solar Lights. These products represent Schneider Electric's latest solar-powered innovations for use in remote and off-grid areas.
The gift in-kind agreement falls within the cooperation protocol of Schneider Electric with state-owned and private universities to help support labs and scientific research at these academic institutions. The Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE) is working on providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions to local communities in Wadi El Gamal and Abu Ghusun in Marsa Alam

Mobiya is a lighting solution specifically designed for remote and off-grid areas. The water-resistant LED solar lamps can operate for 48 hours with only 8 hours of solar charging. The Water of the Sun Installation is a solution for remote areas with groundwater and no access to electricity. Schneider Electric has created a new solar-powered solution to operate pumping and irrigation systems as an effective alternative to conventional groundwater extraction solutions.
Schneider Electric has launched many initiatives to provide access to electricity for off-grid areas and villages. Last year, the company cooperated with Youth with a Mission to provide 200 solar-powered Mobiya lamps to off-grid villages located between Marsa Alam in the Red Sea Governorate and Ras Hederba in Shalateen.
